Pocket Sports Center
Ok, so there is really a geeky girl hiding behind this forum who knows next to nothing about sports.
But I can tell you all the guys over at PPC Geeks are raving about this Sports application for your phone.
Scottymomo’s Pocket Sports Center is a free download for your Palm or WM phone. (see the bottom of the first post in the thread )
You can track your favorite sports scores, teams and it will auto update the scores for you. If you are a sports geek go check it out. The interface is well thought out and painless to use.
Get visual voice mail on your smart phone
The iPhone visual voice mail is one of my favorite things about the phone. Now you can get visual voice mail on your other smart phones, Palm, Windows Mobile etc. This is a free service.
YouMail provides consumers with a free cell phone voicemail service that allows them to better express their personality and be more productive. YouMail users can personalize greetings based on caller ID – recording greetings themselves, or easily choosing from a large and growing library of user-generated greetings and away messages. YouMail lets users express themselves differently to their friends, family and co-workers, while maintaining a standard greeting for unknown callers. YouMail users can also access their cell phone voicemail over the Web or in their e-mail, to easily share special voicemails and save them forever.
Sprint Mogul WM 6.1 Beta release has escaped
PhoneNews.com has obtained the latest beta for the Sprint HTC Mogul. The update adds both Windows Mobile 6.1 and Sprint TV.
While Windows Mobile 6.1 was previously announced for the device by HTC, the addition of Sprint TV is a new feature for the Mogul. Previously, the HTC Touch carried Sprint TV, but Mogul was left absent. With this update, there will finally be a Sprint smart device that offers both Sprint Navigation and Sprint TV, as well as Sprint Music.
Netfront browser beta is available for download
Are you looking for an alternative to Opera or Pocket Internet Explorer? Check out NetFront. It is still in beta so be kind and expect a few bugs, but it is nice to see options in the phone browsers.
I haven’t yet tried it but initial users are raving about it on the phone forums.

Yet another WM browser
Boy they are coming fast and furious now.
Touch Mobile has a demo browser available.
The Iris Browser is an advanced and versatile application that brings the Web to mobile and embedded devices of virtually any size without impacting the quality or usability of the page. The Iris Browser is fast, secure and user-friendly, having the ability to render full Web pages in resource-constrained environments. In addition, it can be used as a high performance platform for local Web applications, AJAX/Web 2.0 integration and dynamic user interfaces.
The Iris Browser is flexible and adaptable. Its core rendering engine, based on WebKit, is entirely independent from the upper application and user-interface layers, which can be customized to meet specific requirements. In addition, the engine is open source and can be reused in other applications.
Send pictures by email on your WM phone
It’s not easy. And every time a way is found to do so Sprint finds a way to stop it.
Attach the picture to the email. Then you can send picture mail by using phone_number@carrier.com There is a full list here of the carrier’s mail server settings. But that requires you to know the phone number and the carrier of the person you wish to send the picture.
Why is Sprint blocking MMS Picture Messages on High End Phones?
HTC Touch Cube ported for other WM6 phones
So you have a Window’s Mobile phone, the iPhone interface is old news and you’re lusting after the Touch. Again the folks at PPC Geeks (thread ) have put together a cool interface for your phone. I have it working on my Mogul and it was painless to install. ( And it plays nice with your HTC Touch Today Screen ). You’ll have to experiment to see if it will work on other phones.
The files you need are in the first post of the thread above, download and install them same as you would any program. You MUST then do a soft reset for the cube to work.
There is a You Tube demo of it if you want a peek first.
I couldn’t get the customizer that comes with it to work, I had to use PHM Registry Editor. But I needed to install and learn to use a registry editor anyhow. There’s a weirdness to the registry editors. Type your changes, count to 3, turn off phone, count to 3, turn on phone count to 3, turn off phone, count to 3, soft reboot. You have to flush the cache for the changes to take place properly.
The Touch Key board can be found here
If you are looking for some of the other cool HTC Touch programs check XDA Developers (thread). Be sure to read the comments and follow the directions.
