Cab file for Sprint TV made available online
Someone at the PPC Geeks forum posted the cab file for Sprint TV. If you have Sprint and PowerVision but your Windows Mobile phone does not have Sprint TV you can get it now. Install the cab file and you’ll be hooked into the Sprint TV service and can catch news or other Sprint TV shows.
Sprint has also launched Sprint Exclusive Entertainment TV on its Sprint TV network.
There is a new Thread here with an updated version and more information. And there is a new cab file for SprintTV here so you can download it directly to your phone
Google Docs goes mobile
Google Docs is a sever based suite of office tools. There is a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tools and storage. You can create documents or upload existing documents. Documents can be shared or kept private and edited and accessed from anywhere.
The access from anywhere is the important part. Now there is a mobile interface to the Google Docs so you can read and edit your documents from your phone as well. Like all the Google services so far this one is free and easy to set up.
How to save a wet phone
Of course this depends on how much of a soaking you gave your phone. Less is clearly better.
The first thing to do is to remove the battery, second thing to do is to dry it out. Tip it which ever way lets the water run out and sit it on a towel till the water stops.
Now some people recommend putting your phone in a closed container that is filled with rice. Cover the phone with the rice. Supposedly the rice will draw the dampness out of the phone in a few days. Some people use those damp rid packs that are enclosed with goods that get shipped to you. Put a bunch of those in a sealed plastic bag with your phone and wait a few days.
If you are lucky all is well and your phone works.
If you were more creative and used soda to baptize your phone or it is still not working you’ll have to try something more serious. Get yourself some rubbing alcohol, qtips, a soft toothbrush and what ever you need to dismantle your phone. It’s already broken, you’ve voided the warranty you’ve nothing to lose at this point.
Using the toothbrush, qtip and alcohol clean everything. Don’t soak it in the alcohol just clean everything, let it dry and put it back together. If nothing shorted while the phone was wet all should be well.
We’ve also used this method to fix laptops that have been soaked.
The lazy way to remember anything
You don’t have to tie a string around your finger anymore. Now you can use Bit Bomb or Ping Me to send yourself reminders. Both are free, have nice calendar interfaces and will send you a text message to remind you to do something. You fill out the schedule, they send the text.
You can also set up your Google Calendar to send you text reminders of appointments
Free audio books for your mobile phone or ipod
Myself, I have really gotten into podcasts. I listen to them more than music now. Many podcasts are books in serial format. I’m a big fan of Scott Sigler’s SciFi and JC Hutchin’s 7th Son.
But there are lots of books read by podcast now and not just sci-fi. PodioBooks has a very large selection of free and donationware books for you to download and listen to on your phone.
And be sure to check out:

Amazing camera phone art
Connected worlds is a series of photographic art shot entirely with a N95 digital camera. There are real world cities and Second life cities. The photos are created by taking several shots, all overlapping by about 1/3. The photos are then stitched together to create the scene.
So if you stumble across a great scene and only have your cell phone, snap away and you can get art quality shots with a bit of Photoshopping.

Here’s a way to send money to your college students
SAN MIGUEL, Philippines – It’s Thursday, so 18-year-old Dennis Tiangco is off to a bank to collect his weekly allowance, zapped by his mother — who’s working in Hong Kong — to his electronic wallet: his cell phone.
Sauntering into a branch of GM Bank in the town of San Miguel, Tiangco fills out a form, sends a text message via his phone to a bank line dedicated to the service. In a matter of seconds, the transaction is approved and the teller gives him $54, minus a 1 percent fee. He doesn’t need a bank account to retrieve the money. . . [ read more Cell phones double as electronic wallets ]
Implimentations are not as nicely set up in the US. We have Pay me now which allows you to send small amounts by text but then requires a phone call to verify your pin number.
And Pay Pal which also requires confirmation of a pin number but allows you text it. I think many of us now have PayPal accounts making PayPal the best option we have now.
