Camera Phone Tips
Digital Photography School has ‘13 Tips for Improving Camera Phone Photos. Following are the ones I find most useful and some adjustments to her tips.
Use good lighting. Camera phones don’t do well in dark scenes, you have no flash. They take their best pictures in a medium light rather than a bright light.
Get close If you try to take a big picture you’ll end up with tiny unrecognizable objects.
Keep it still Cut the blur, the camera phone needs all the help it can get.
Use Gimp to clean up your images, not the camera software.
Don’t use the zoom it is a software zoom not a physical zoom and will decrease the detail in your photo.
Take lots of pictures practice makes perfect.
Go where no one has gone before
Shoot lights at dusk not at night. If you want good shots of holiday lights, store signs etc. Take the shots at dusk not full dark.
Keep your lens clean
Use the highest resolution the camera will allow
Blog your photos Go to Blogger Mobile and set up a free blog. You can then text message your pictures to go@blogger.com and have them appear on your blog. That’s how the pictures get to this blog.
Use text messaging to get through when the phone lines are jammed.
If the phone lines are jammed text:
During last years hurricane and other times the network is swamped text messages get through when phone calls won’t. It is also getting to be the only way to communicate with our 20 something offspring.

aisi it s/b np 4 us
{As I see it it should be no problem for us }
Although this has worked in prior emergencies the fact the cell phone systems were overloaded New Years and several texts did not go through is a bad sign. It may just be because every sent the messages at 12 sharp rather than a problem with the system. Either way texting is still more likely to get through than a call in an emergency.
Blazer tips
In Blazer ‘n’ goes forward a page ‘<-’ goes back one page.
You will find Blazer is better behaved if you clear your cache on exit. This will slow down leaving Blazer a bit but it is far worth the delay.
Options->Preferences->Advanced->
check the box for ‘Clear cache on exit’
If you are having trouble viewing a map or other image go to:
Options->Wide Page Mode
This will increase the size of the image.
To return to the page you are viewing in Blazer when the Treo goes to sleep set:
Options->Preferences->Page
choose Start With: ‘Last Page Viewed
Then just hit the red power key to wake from sleep and return to the page you were looking last in Blazer.
This is really handy when you have a map or directions on your screen in Blazer and it goes to sleep while you are driving.
Endless loops?
Are you having lots of eternal loops and crashes? It is probably a corrupted database. Do a total reset ( Reset instructions ) and then use an old back up or re-enter your calendar, contacts etc by hand or it’ll just keep trying to load the corrupted files.
No more sales or unwanted calls on your smart phone
Set unknown caller sound to ‘no sound’. No more calls from sales people or anyone else you don’t like. After all everyone you like is in your contact list.
If your phone won’t let you do that. Create or download a ringtone that is silence. Set that ringtone to be your default. Then assign a ringtone you like to all your contacts.
